Team Lead. Full-Stack Engineer. Building clean systems and the teams that maintain them.

01 / about

The person
behind the terminal

I'm a full-stack engineer who has been writing code before Stack Overflow existed, and I still get unreasonably excited when a complex system clicks into place.

I've spent my career working across a wide range of programming languages, databases, frameworks, and infrastructure. These days I pair that foundation with AI-assisted development using Claude Code, which lets me move faster, architect more confidently, and tackle unfamiliar problem spaces without losing momentum.

When not shipping code, I run a self-hosted home lab that serves as my personal cloud, development sandbox, and infrastructure playground—because the best way to learn a system is to own one.

03 / work history

Experience &
leadership

From Future Combat Systems to international enterprise payroll.

  • Promoted to Team Lead within one year, taking ownership of a seven-person team focused on international payroll initiatives.

1 framework. Multiple countries. Built from scratch.

When Paycom expanded internationally, led the architecture and development of the foundational payroll setup that made it possible — delivering Canadian payroll setup functionality and establishing it for other countries to build on.

  • Delivered foundational earnings and deductions functionality for Canadian payroll and established the core framework for international platform scalability.
  • Architected and developed the international Tax Update Center, transforming it into a multi-country tax rule management system.
  • Internationalized the minimum wage API, enabling automated updates across international jurisdictions.
  • Guided backend development for loading international tax data into the tax database, ensuring data integrity and country-specific compliance.
  • Developed internationalization of earnings and deductions forms, including SQL schema design for supporting data structures.
  • Built import, sync, and batch sync functionality for a prior year company maintenance project using PHP and MySQL.
  • Mentored junior developers through code reviews, technical guidance, and career development support.

05 / ai-powered development

Building with
AI as a partner

Claude Code isn't a shortcut — it's a multiplier. Here's how I integrate it into real development work.

01

Architect first

I design the system structure and define clear interfaces before writing a line of code. Claude Code helps stress-test the design with questions I might not think to ask.

02

AI-assisted implementation

Claude Code is my development partner — it handles boilerplate, surfaces edge cases, suggests better patterns, and keeps me in a state of flow rather than context-switching to documentation

03

Review & understand

Every AI-generated piece of code gets reviewed and understood before it ships. I use AI to move fast, not to skip thinking. The goal is to own what I build.

04

Iterate with feedback

The feedback loop is tight. Real usage drives the next session, which drives the next improvement. When iteration is cheap enough to actually do, you do it more

"This portfolio site was built in a single session with Claude Code — SvelteKit scaffolding, Tailwind theming, component design, and all. The AI wrote the boilerplate; I directed the architecture and design decisions."

something together

Whether it's a project collaboration, an opportunity, or just a conversation about containers and AI — I'm always up for it.
